September 29, 2015: A Pinch of Fox. A Whole Lot of Family. (The Family Channel Becomes Fox Family Channel)

There are nine more ads today, from the August 15-21, 1998 issue of TV Guide Magazine plus one Random Pages gallery addition, a Monday, 8/17/98 Blade Peach Section story by Chris Borrelli, "Sweeping Changes at WSPD" and also includes items on Paul Bukta leaving WTVG and former Channel 13 anchor Lori Wilson. There's one addition, from TV Guide, to the Channel 24 gallery, a Sunday, 8/16/98 Rysher Entertainment ad for the premiere of Judge Mills Lane. The rest of today's ads are additions to the Vintage Cable Ads gallery starting with two from a multi-page color fold-out ad. The first one is a two-page ad (Fox Family Channel, A pinch of Fox, a whole lot of Family...). After opening those two pages you had a four-page ad (...on a channel you already have!) for daytime shows, Bad Dog, The All New Captain Kangaroo, All Dogs Go to Heaven, and The 3 Friends & Jerry Show, original primetime shows, I Can't Believe You Said That (John Salley), Show Me the Funny (Stephanie Miller), Ohhh Nooo!!! Mr. Bill Presents (Mr. Bean), Life, Camera, Action!, Outrageous, and The New Addams Family, and movies "National Lampoon's Men in White," "Home Alone 2" and "Mrs. Doubtfire." Larger versions are here and here. Next is a full-page color ad for TLC's "Adrenaline Rush Hour" where you could find Extreme Machines, Trauma: Life in the E.R., Savage Earth, Medical Detectives, and Real America. There's also a Saturday, 8/15/98 ad for "Mrs. Doubtfire" (Robin Williams) on Fox Family Channel, followed by two color ads from an 8/15/98 insert, starting with a two-page ad for Lifetime's Premiere Week which featured WNBA Playoffs, Any Day Now, New Attitudes, Maggie, Oh Baby (Cynthia Stevenson), reruns of Party of Five, Chicago Hope and Ellen, and the new original movie, "Nightmare in Big Sky Country." Also from that insert was a full-page ad for Any Day Now (Lorraine Toussaint, Annie Potts). Next is a Sunday, 8/16/98 ad for two Fox Family Channel specials, Leo-Mania: DiCaprio's Unauthorized Story and Spice Girls--Wild!, followed by a 8/16/98 full-page ad for Titanic Live on the Discovery Channel. Today's last ad is for another Fox Family Channel movie, another 8/16/98 ad, for "National Lampoon's Men in White." More ads from the August 15-21, 1998 issue of TV Guide Magazine and from the online archives of The Toledo Blade, are on the way...
