April 28, 1999: A New Way to Start Your Day

You'll find ten new ads today, from the October 30 - November 2, 1999 issue of TV Guide Magazine, and from November 2, 4 & 5, 1999 editions of The Blade. There's one addition, from TV Guide, to the CBS gallery, a Sunday, 10/31/99 full-page ad for the premiere of The Early Show, "A new way to start your day," hosted by Bryant Gumbel and Jane Clayson, with a live performance by Mariah Carey. There's also one addition, again from TV Guide, to the FOX gallery, a Thursday, 11/4/99 full-page ad, for the premiere of Greed. There's also one addition, from TV Guide, to the PBS gallery, a Monday, 11/1/99 ad for American Masters, "Hitchcock, Selznick & the End of Hollywood." There's one addition, from The Blade, to Buckeye CableSystem gallery, a Friday, 11/5/99 ad, in the Peach Section, for Cinema Secrets on AMC. There are three additions, also from The Blade, to the ToledoVision 5 gallery, starting with a Tuesday, 11/2/99 half-page ad, in the Sports Section, for Detroit Pistons and Big Ten Basketball games. Next is a Thursday, 11/4/99 ad, in the Peach Section, for Leeza (You Can't Touch Life Without Asking Tough Questions). There are also two more Friday, 11/5/99 side-by-side ads, in the Sports Section, for a Northwestern at Michigan Big Ten football game and a Detroit Pistons at New Yorks Knicks Basketball game. The last two ads today are additions, from TV Guide, to the Vintage Cable Ads gallery. There's a Monday, 11/1/99 full-page ad for "Howard Cosell: Telling it Like it Is" on HBO's Sports of the 20th Century, followed by a Wednesday, 11/3/99 ad, on two pages, for The Man Show (Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla) on Comedy Central. April 22, 2017: The First Local Independent Cable Television Station in the United States

There are eight more ads today, from the October 30-November 5, 1999 issue of TV Guide Magazine, and from the Sunday, 10/31/99 edition of The Blade. There's one addition, from TV Guide, to the FOX gallery, a full-page color ad for Digimon: Digital Monsters, seen on the Fox Kids Network. There's also one addition, from TV Guide, to the PBS gallery. It's another full-page color ad, for Dragon Tales. There's also one addition, from The Blade, to the ToledoVision 5 gallery, a Sunday, 10/31/99 ad. It's another "TV5 Millennium Moment" ad with TV5 host, Teresa Pollick, for TV5's 10th Anniversary (In August 1989, TV5 became the first local independent cable television station in the United States). I scanned this ad from an actual paper copy of "TV Week." There are four additions, from TV Guide, to the Vintage Cable Ads gallery, starting with a two-page color ad, inside the front cover, for Nickelodeon Nation (If you're a kid, you're in!), followed by a full-page color ad, on the back cover, (Nickelodeon Nation: We pledge allegiance to kids). There's also a color ad for Gordon Elliot's Door Knock Dinners on Food Network, followed by a one more full-page color ad, for the new cable network from Nickeloden called Noggin. April 18, 2017: Century in Toledo

There are twelve more ads today, from the October 23-29, 1999 issue of TV Guide Magazine, and from October 23 & 29, 1999 editions of The Blade, plus one Random Pages gallery addition, a Saturday, 10/23/99 TV Guide Magazine page with some 7-8 pm listings and a "local focus close-up" for a WTVG-TV 13 special, Century in Toledo. There are two additions, from TV Guide, to the FOX gallery, starting with a Sunday, 10/24/99 full-page ad for Fox NFL Sunday with Terry, Howie, JB & Cris on the pre-game show, live from Dallas, followed by the Lions vs. Panthers on channel 36. The Lima station carried the Redskins vs. Cowboys game. There's also a Monday, 10/25/99 ad, on two pages, for the Time of Your Life series premiere epsiode, "The Time She Came to New York" and the Ally McBeal season three premeire episode, "Car Wash." There's one addition, from TV Guide, to the PBS gallery, a Monday, 10/25/99 ad and "editor's choice" for Wonders of the African World with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. There's also one addition, from TV Guide, to The WB gallery, a Thursday, 10/29/99 full-page ad for The WB Radio Music Awards ('N Sync, Kid Rock, Christna Aguilera, Ginuwine, Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth). There are two additons, from The Blade, to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery. The first one is a Saturday, 10/23/99 ad, in the Peach Section, for Cartoon Network's Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? Marathon. There's also a Sunday, 10/24/99 full-page ad, scanned from that week's "TV Week." The ad was for Julia Roberts Sunday on TBS, featuring "Steel Magnolias," "Sleeping with the Enemy" and "Pretty Woman," Inside the Actor's Studio: Mary Tyler Moore, on Bravo, and for Buckeye CableSystem Night at a Toledo Storm vs. Louisiana Gators game. There are three additions, from TV Guide, to the Vintage Cable Ads gallery, starting with a Saturday, 10/23/99 full-page ad for Showtime Championship Boxing. The fight was scheduled for after game one of the World Series and featured Mike Tyson vs. Orlin Norris. Next is a Wednesaday, 10/27/99 full-page ad for The New York Friars Club Roast of Jerry Stiller on Comedy Central (Booze. And cruelty. And humiliation, Like any celebrity gala...Hosted by Jason Alexander). There's also a Thursday, 10/28/99 ad for Headliners and Legends, on MSNBC (Mary Tyler Moore, Jackie Onassis, Ricky Nelson, host Matt Lauer). There are seven more ads today, from the October 9-15, 1999 issue of TV Guide Magazine, and from October 12 & 15, 1999 editions of The Blade, plus two Random Pages gallery additions. The first one is a Monday, 10/11/99 Peach Section story, in The Blade, by Chris Borrelli, titled "Beutien Loves the Opportunity to Teach." The other one is from TV Guide, two Friday, 10/15/99 pages with some 7:30 - 9:00 pm listings and two "close-ups," for shows on Fox. There's also an "ad" for "'TV's 50 Greatest Characters,' next week in TV Guide." A larger version can be found, here.
